Today’s tour is not very long, but quite hard for the descents and slopes expected. We will pass through villages like Gradara, the panoramic road from Pesaro and Gabicce Monte. From the Tourism Board of Riccione we go, behind the sea, towards Cattolica and here we take the road that goes uphill to the knoll of Gradara, a village surrounded by walls and towers, Medieval style up to the fortress, famous also because recalls the moving tragedy of Paolo and Francesca, narrated by Dante in the Divina Commedia. Then on to Pesaro , very old town with an attractive historical centre and modern beach equipment. We cannot miss the huge Piazza del Popolo with the Ducal Palace of xv century and get around the imposing Rocca Costanza (1487). Now we climb along the panoramic that goes up to Gabicce Monte. A short turning to see the gorgeous park of Villa Imperiale (1400-1500) and after the nice Fiorenzuola we are on the top). We rest for a while to enjoy the view of the sea, the Riviera, the hills and the mountains. This is an unforgettable spot. Now we go downhill to Cattolica, carefully, and get back to Riccione, to end a quite hard ride but involving and emotioning: a “romantic ride” no doubt. |
