This is an itinerary suggested for the well-trained amateur racing cyclists. The length of the route is not prohibitive, but there are many climbs and the descents too are quite demanding; The crossed areas have to been admired for the charming views and the high environmental value landscapes. From Riccione you go towards the hinterland, to Ospedaletto (see route no. 18) to reach S. Marino, bordering the river Marano. You have covered about 20 kilometres and now, at the fork of Faetano, you take the road to Monte Giardino and Montelicciano. These are climbs!! Wonderful landscapes, but you need a strong pedalling. At the descent to Mercatino Conca you can make a stop and resting. Then you go on to Monte Altavellio. Again beautiful landscapes, again pushes on the pedals. Up and down for the hills, towards San Giovanni and go on to Tavoleto. The efforts have not finished because now you have to cross the hill to reach Montefiore well silhouetted in the sky. Be careful at the last descent towards Morciano, but now it is on the plain and you have back to Riccione. You have to be well-trained. There are some amateur racing cyclists who adds very difficult variants. Daring and never satisfied! |
