This is a quite difficult itinerary, with two good slopes, quite long, crossing very fascinating places covering roads both beautiful and panoramic. From Rimini, covering the road of the sea until Torre Pedrera where you will take the road for Santarcangelo, Poggio Berni, Ponte Verucchio to reach the main street no. 258 to arrive at Novafeltria. Further on, at Ponte Baffoni, you turn left to reach Maiolo and go on to Pugliano and then towards S. Leo, a wonderful village. It is worth to make a stop, also because we have just covered almost 60 kilometres and the climb from Ponte Baffoni has been difficult. The main square of the village, millenary “Pieve”, the 13th century “Duomo”, the “Torre” and over the top the big Fortress (1476), that from the cliff dominates all the valley. A unique scenery. Now you go to Pietracuta, in the valley of the Marecchia and at the sign indicating Verucchio there is another climb. Another beautiful village is Verucchio, on the highest point of which there is the “Rocca of Malatesta” from where you can admire the sea. Now you take the easy internal road, crossing Coriano, “Casetti” and Rimini among sweet hills. We have covered almost 100 kilometres, among natural landscapes and historical places, with two climbs and descents that, for a well-trained amateur racing cyclist, will have been a real satisfaction. |
