Today we face up with a wavy and very interesting course, of average difficulty but with a couple of demanding slopes (Torriana and Verucchio).
From the centre of Bellaria we go up towards the beautiful Santarcangelo, a very picturesque small village entrenched all along its streets until arrive at the Malatesta Fortress and the Cappuccini Church, to visit, of course!
From the beautiful Palace Marcosanti we go to Poggio Berni climbing the difficult slope of Torriana, with some remarkable pulls about 20%, opened on a marvellous landscape. Pay attention to the following declivity towards the Marecchia until Ponte Verucchio. In the river, on a spur there is the wonderful Sanctuary of the Madonna di Saiano. Above the Castle of Montebello silhouetted against the sky. Again a good slope until 300 metres. We arrive at Verucchio, very beautiful village that reach its peak with the Malatesta Rock. It deserves a visit both for its historical background and for the amazing views of the hills, the valley, the mountains and the Adriatic sea over there. Follow carefully the map to find the right route to come back: from the fork of S. Ermete it will allow you to cross again Santarcangelo and coming back to Bellaria. Among landscapes and castles, slopes and descents, another beautiful excursion is finished. |
