Today we go abroad, because the tour will develop through the Republic of S. Marino, a small indipendent State between Romagna and Marche. We cross Rimini, starting from the garden of Piazzale Indipendenza and getting out on the hills of Covignano area .We are on the route of the Casetti and S. Paolo and we get up in the greenery through some sharp bends, and up and down till the spurt of Ventoso, quite hard, already in S. Marino. We still climb till the highest part of the Republic, the borough that culminates to the 3 famous strongholds. During the tour back we will curve along the steep descent of Acquaviva leading to Ponte Verucchio. Now we go towards Corpolo’ and again up to San Paolo, we go down to the Casetti and we are back in Rimini after 60 km. The surrounding beauties are to be seen in the many cultivations ,the viticulture in particular, in the sight of the coast from the top and from the sights on S. Marino and the Valmarecchia. The artistic beauties are focused not only in S.Marino, so lively and picturesque, but also along the route: old boroughs, fortresses, churches, dotting every hill. If you visit the old republic, you will enjoy a view on the coast, the wonderful sight of the Valmarecchia, a drink at the fountain of Corpolo’, or the knoll of Villa Verucchio, where in Santa Croce, is the cypress possibly planted by S. Francesco in 1215. |
