Their name would have been “Gens Mesia”, and, for their military merits, they were awarded many acres of land in our area. For over two centuries, from 1295 to 1528, Misano was ruled by the Malatesta family, who built a castle there, the remains of which are now unfortunately limited only to the entry arch and part of the tower. Once the Malatesta dynasty came to an end, Romagna, and therefore Misano, were made part of the Papal State, whose jurisdiction lasted almost uninterruptedly until the unification of Italy. |
