The History
The Arc of Augustus is, together with the bridge of Tiberius, the symbol of Rimini, that enclosed it first in its seal and subsequently in its coat of arms. Built in the 27 b.C. is the most ancient of the Roman arcs remained. The upper side, that included, according to the tradition, a marmoreal quadriga drivened by Augustus, was dismantled in the Middle Ages and replaced, in the 10th century by the actual battlement.
